Lord Ivar Mountbatten, the cousin to Queen Elizabeth, has married the love of his life James Coyle, exactly two years after coming out as gay.

The divorced father of three and the younger son of the 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven married his partner over the weekend in the private chapel at Bridwell Park, a Grade I-listed mansion near the village of Uffculme in Devon on Saturday.

Lord Ivar and his new love, James Coyle exchanged rings and vows in front of 60 family and friends and his ex-wife Penny who he divorced in 2011, was the one who gave him away to his new partner.

According to reports, their daughters Ella, 22, Alix, 20, and 16-year-old Luli suggested she give their father away.

Two years after their divorce, Lord Ivar caused a stir when he confessed to having struggled with his sexuality throughout most of that 17-year marriage.
According to him, he had known from his teens that he was bisexual.
‘Penny was aware before we got married . . . that my attraction went both ways,’ he said. ‘She was understanding and I will always be grateful to her.’
He finally admitted he was gay after finding happiness with Glasgow-born James, whom he met in 2014 in the upmarket Swiss alpine resort of Verbier, where Ivar and his family have always skied.
The wedding is the first ever same-sex marriage in the extended Royal Family.
