Sadio Mane could be on the verge of joining Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino as the latest forward to commit his long-term future to Liverpool.
Liverpool have opened talks with the Senegalese player's representatives about a lucrative extension that would keep him at Anfield until 2023, according to The Telegraph's John Percy.
It's thought that completing a new deal with Mane, who joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2016 for £34 million and has three years remaining on his current contract, is a formality.
The expected completion of the deal would follow the announcements of long-term agreements with Salah and Firmino, who both recently doubled their salaries by putting pen to paper on five-year contracts.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also eager to secure the services of Mane, who scored 20 goals last season while helping the Premier League side reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2007.
And compared to players in the past who left the club, Klopp suggested that stars such as Mane will now be willing to remain with the Merseyside outfit given its success in recent years.
"When I have spoken about the mood in the club, it's not only in the stands - we are Liverpool as a team and the boys want to be part of it," Klopp said. "That's really cool and it's a big achievement for the club because these boys, Bobby Firmino, Mo Salah, and Sadio Mane, and a lot of the others as well, could play for pretty much any team in the world.
"That's how it is and a good sign for the club. It is an improved situation that these players don't use us and then go. It's cool but now we all together have to deliver. Sign your contracts but now, go again."
Along with signing its star players to new contracts, Liverpool have been busy on the transfer market while completing deals to sign goalkeeper Alisson from AS RomaFabinho from AS Monaco, and Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City for overall fees that exceed £100 million combined.
