Lai says 80% of what is shared on social media is fake

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has warned Nigerians living abroad to be careful of the news they read about Nigeria online as 80% of them are fake.  Lai said this when he met with the Nigerian ambassador to the US, Sylvanus Nsofor, in Washington over the weekend.
“Fake news and misinformation when mixed with hate speech threaten the peace, unity, security and corporate existence of Nigerians. Many people in the diaspora depend a lot on Social media for news about Nigeria. However, 80 percent of what you read on social media is fake. Please, we implore you to visit our website fgnnformation.iapp where you can find information that is genuine about Nigeria. When you go by social media, the impression you get is as if Nigeria is at war and as if Muslims are killing Christians and about ethnic war. However, those disgruntled politicians have now tried to factor ethnicity and religion into the situation that we have in the country. Our challenges have nothing to do with religion or ethnicity.”
Citing an example with the farmer/herders clashes, Lai said news platforms reported that the two Catholic priests killed in Benue in April were killed by hersmen  but investigations have shown that they were killed by armed militia.

Woman gives birth in restaurant restroom; baby offered free food for life and a guaranteed job when she's 16

A woman took an unplanned bathroom break at Chick-Fil-A and ended up delivering her baby there in the restaurant's restroom. Falon Griffin began having contractions on Tuesday. She and her husband Robert Griffin made a stop on their way to San Antonio, Texas’ University Hospital to meet up with a family friend at a local Chick-Fil-A store so they could drop off their two older daughters with them before going to deliver their baby. As they stopped, Falon realized she needed to use the bathroom. It was after 10 p.m. at the time and Chick-Fil-A was closed but the couple banged on the windows to try and get the staff’s attention because Falon didn’t feel like she could wait until they got to the hospital. Falon was allowed inside while her husband waved goodbye to the kids. Rapper Offset arrested for Gun and Drug Possession in Georgia (see mugshot)

Offset  of the hip-hop trio  Migos  and the husband of hip-hop star  Cardi B , was arrested on Friday afternoon July 20th on gun and drug charges after he and his bodyguard were pulled over outside of Atlanta.  The rapper, whose real name is  Kiari Kendrell Cephus , and his bodyguard,  Senay Gezahgn , were pulled over in  Jonesboro, Georgia , for the illegal lane change when Clayton County police searched his 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera and found three guns and less than one ounce of marijuana and over $107,000 in cash, according to Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB. The 26-year-old who is already on probation for a 2015 arrest on drugs and weapons charges, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a weapon during a crime. He also faces misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession and making an improper lane change.  His bodyguard,  Gezahgn , 27, was also charged with possession of less than one ounce...

19-year-old man stabs 18-year-old girlfriend to death in Edo

The police in Edo state have arrested a 19-year-old man identified as Junior Baba, for stabbing his 18-year-old girlfriend, Matilda Odiri, to death at his home on Akugbe Street in Benin metropolis in the Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State on July 7th. According to reports, Matilda had arrived Baba's house on the day of the incident with the intention of sleeping over. She then accused him of being unfaithful to her as she suspected he was keeping another girl. There arguement degenerated into a fight and in the process, Baba picked up his kitchen knife and stabbed Matilda. She died on the spot. Realising what he'd done, Baba carried her body and dumped it by the roadside. He then fled to the Auduwawa area of Benin city where he was apprehended. Confirming his arrest, the state commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, said Baba has since confessed to committing the crime. He added that the suspect would be charged to court soon....
