President Buhari has approved the release of N22.68 billion for the payment of retirement benefits to former workers of liquidated Nigerian Airways Ltd.  The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed announced this during a press briefing held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance Abuja today September 24th.  The amount which was approved by President Buhari is about 50 per cent of the N45.3bn entitlements of the former workers of the liquidated company.

Following days of denial, father-of-two Chris Watts confessed to killing his pregnant wife in a rage. He reportedly made the startling admission after having a heart-to-heart conversation with his father. A teenager has been charged with the murder of her mother and sister in what police believe was a failed murder-suicide bid. Rosa Aminta Maldonado, 44, and her daughter Rosa Lee Maldonado, 19, were found dead of apparent stab wounds inside their home in Lester,  Limestone County, Alabama, at around 1am on Thursday. Emergency responders also found a girl, 15, inside the residence, who they say was stabbing herself in the head and neck in an apparent suicide attempt. She has since been charged with two counts of capital murder in Limestone County, WHNT19 reported.  Officials claimed that because she is a minor, no other details will be released.   The FCT police command have arrested a  29-year-old mother of two, Mrs.Ifeoma Obinwa, for allegedly inflicting wounds, thereby leaving many scars on the body of her 12-year-old housemaid at her home in Dutse Alhaji area in Abuja. A statement from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP) says Obinwa attacked her maid on September 12th because the girl dared to beat up her child. “The victim, who has lived with the suspect since 2015, was not enrolled into school and is always being physically and emotionally abused. The Central Bank of Nigeria has asked all customers of former Skye Bank now Polaris bank, not to fret or panic as their money in the bank is safe. This evening, the apex bank revoked the license of the former Skye bank. The CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele said the decision had been reached following the inability of the owners of former Skye bank to shore up the capital of the distressed bank which had earlier received a N350 billion intervention in July 2016. He announced that the Cental bank had injected N786 billion into the bank to return it to soundness and profitability. Police have launched investigation after a  29 year old woman was found dead at her house in Luciane apartments on Kitale Lane, off Dennis Pritt road, Nairobi on Thursday afternoon.  The body of Monicah Nyawira Kimani was found inside a bathtub by her sister who came visiting. The sister told police they had to break into the house having failed to get a response after knocking several times.They were shocked to find the body in the bathroom with a slit neck. Nyawira lived alone. Her hands had also been tied from behind with a rope, an indication that Nyawira was tortured before being killed. According to the relatives, Nyawira had just returned to the country on Thursday from South Sudan where she worked. She was scheduled to Fly to Dubai on Friday evening. Minister of Health, Isaac Adeowole, has said that not all medical graduates in Nigeria must practice. He said this while responding to a question he was asked by journalists at a function recently.  According to the Minister of Health, not everyone who is practising would end up as aspecialist. Seventy-two Nigerian women and a Togolese,  are to be deported by the Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for being in the country illegally.   Most of the Nigerian deportees were also said to have engaged in prostitution in Ghana, apart from lacking the requisite resident permits.   They were arrested along with nine Ghanaians in a swoop at the Redco Flats neighbourhood at Madina in Accra on Thursday, September 20.   The Ghanaians are to be handed over to the Ghana Police Service for prosecution.    Briefing newsmen during a Press Conference yesterday, Public Affairs of the GIS, Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI), Linda Asare Mantey, at a press briefing said the swoop was based on intelligence the service gathered.   According to her, 20 of the suspects were arrested at the Junior Hotel at Madina whilst the rest were arrested in the same vicinity, which is noted for prostitution activities....

A Georgian  Uber  driver has been arrested and charged for allegedly stabbing two passengers. According to  People , the incident which occurred on Sunday involved a 29-year-old woman  Shaunisha Danielle Brown  and two passengers whom she allegedly stabbed multiple times after one of them threw up in her car. One of the passengers who was unharmed  Daniel Millard  shared with  WRDW-TV : “The Uber driver showed up we all get in. Everything is fine and dandy. We are like we’re going home. Great. Ademola Adeleke The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday invited  Senator Ademola Adeleke  to report to the force headquarters in Abuja. Adeleke is to run for governor of Osun State under the  People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, September 22. The police revealed that the senator and four others have been arrested, investigated and granted bail, but are being charged to court for examination malpractice, criminal conspiracy, impersonation, breach of duty, and aiding and abetting. A statement released by the Police spokesperson  Jimoh Moshood  revealed that although the senator claimed not to have sat for the  National Examination Council (NECO) exams, a result bearing his name was obtained from the council with Seven (7) Credits and One (1) Pass. According to the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the Buhari-led government has moved 10 million Nigerians out of poverty. South Africa’s top court has ruled that personal cannabis use is legal. There have been photos circulating online of people celebrating following the announcement on September 18, 2018, outside the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg. Deputy Chief Justice  Raymond Zondo, delivering the Johannesburg-based Constitutional Court’s unanimous verdict, said the law banning marijuana use in private by adults ‘is unconstitutional and therefore invalid’.

A student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State (FUNAAB), was, yesterday, hospitalised, after consuming a bottle of gin over a N5k bet. The 300 Level Biochemistry student, identified as Hassan Faruk, had entered the bet with a colleague. However, after gulping the gin, he lost consciousness and has to be rushed to the hospital. His current condition remains unknown. 

  7-year old Roman, at age 5, started a project to save unwanted and abandoned dogs. Two years later, he’s facilitated the rescue and transportation of over 1,000 dogs to families across the U.S through his  Project Freedom Ride  non-profit. On Monday, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, an ex-aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, told a federal judge in Lagos that the N1.6 billion traced to him by EFCC was money donated for a church building project in Otuoke, Jonathan’s hometown. .
